Q. Where is the Pacific Collection and how can I access items located there?

Answer

Pacific Collection materials can only be issued out and used in the reading room on Level C. All borrower's must have a USP ID card or external borrower ID card. Visitors to USP can use the collection for ten consecutive days for a fee of $25.00. Please visit the main issue desk to pay this fee.

Only 1 item will be issued to you at a time. Due to the rare nature of these items we have these regulations in place. Each request should be filled out on a green issue slip (available at the information desk or upstairs at the Pacific Collection desk). The staff member at the Pacific Collection desk will retrieve the item for you.

You can use the item for 3 hours at a time in the reading room. As in other rare, archival collections, bags are not allowed in the Pacific Collection-- please use the baggage booth on Level A outside the library.

Staff/faculty members may be permitted to browse the collection at certain prearranged times. Please contact the Pacific Collection Librarian for more information: http://www.usp.ac.fj/index.php?id=4207

Please also make note that many items have duplicate copies located in the library's general collection. You may issue these items out of the library, so it's worth checking in the catalogue to see if there is a copy of the item in the general collection also.
