Q. Where can we have a group discussion?

Answer

The Library TOK Space provides a flexible study space where students can have open discussion in a self- regulated environment. To allow for discussion and phone usage some regulations in the Chat Room vary from the rest of the Library.

TOK Space Regulations:

Students may hold discussions in the TOK Space. The  TOK Space is designated as a mobile phone use area. Users should bear in mind that the level of noise should not impact on those wishing for quiet study in other areas of  the Library, Levels A&B in particular. The control of noise (discussion, laptop use, phone ring tones etc.) in the TOK Space is the responsibility of those using the room.Smoking, the consumption of food or drink, and the use of matches or lighters is prohibitedUsers entering or exiting the  TOK Space must ensure that the door is closed behind them to prevent noise filtering into the Level A study area.Users are asked to assist Library staff by (i) placing used library materials on the trolley by the sliding door and (ii) shutting the louvres at Library closing.

There is also a Discussion Room on Level C available for quiet group discussion. Bookings are made at the Main Issue Desk for an hour at a time. Multiple back to back bookings by individuals in the same group are not allowed. For example if one person in the group books the room from 1.00-2.00 pm, a second person can't book it from 2.00-3.00 pm, a third from 3.00-4.00 pm etc.
